What won't Charyl do?

She won't operate a home's security hardware — doors, garages, covers — or its climate control, and she never acts without your approval.

She keeps clear of a short list of things on purpose. In conversation, she won’t operate a lock, a garage door, or a cover — she’ll point you to the app’s own device controls instead, which can do those with a tap of your own. Reading that same state back is always fine, though: ask whether the back door is locked, or whether the garage is open, and she’ll answer straight from the device’s live status.

Thermostat and climate control aren’t available anywhere in the product yet — not through Charyl, not through the app — so she won’t offer it as an option.

She also won’t look at a camera image and describe what’s in it. She can pull up a snapshot or recent events for you to check yourself, but the seeing stays with you.

And she never acts without you: no unsolicited device changes, no quietly “set it and forget it.” The closest she comes is a proactive notice, like a warranty coming due, which tells you something rather than doing it.

Outside of research through Charyl Cloud, she doesn’t search the open internet on her own to answer a question.
