Charyl can't find a document I uploaded

A search that comes back empty usually means nothing cleared the similarity bar, not that the document is missing — try rephrasing, or check the document list directly.

Zero results from a search almost always means nothing cleared the similarity bar for that particular phrasing — not that the document was never indexed. Try asking about it a different way, or naming the appliance or record more specifically; a document that didn’t surface for “manual” might surface for “installation guide.”

If you can see the document listed on the asset or record itself, it’s there — Charyl’s search over it is just narrower than a full-text search would be. And if the document is part of a Home Record you marked private, that’s by design: its contents never reach Charyl at all unless you open that record up, even though it still shows up as existing.

Self-hosting without a subscription

Search over documents depends on a local embedding model being available and running. If it’s not pulled or not reachable, search comes back empty across the board — check the logs for the service that handles Charyl’s document search if this is new:
