Does Charyl replace Home Assistant?

No. If you already run Home Assistant, Charyl works with it rather than instead of it. Connecting it brings its devices into Charyl’s world — imported with their types inferred automatically, all at once rather than picked one by one — so you can ask about and, for lights, switches, and fans, control them the same way you’d ask about anything else in your home.
The relationship runs the other way too: Singer Intelligent Homes’ own sensor hardware announces itself to Home Assistant over MQTT discovery, so it shows up there as a native entity, not a walled-off add-on. Home Assistant keeps owning the device’s hardware representation; your home’s box keeps owning sensor history and the conversation layer on top.
