How do devices and sensors get added?
Through Home Assistant, or our own sensor nodes — both show up automatically once connected, with no manual pairing.
Two ways.
Most devices arrive through Home Assistant: anything Home Assistant already supports — lights, switches, fans, sensors — becomes visible to Charyl once you connect it (see Connect Home Assistant). During first-run setup you get a preview of what was found and choose what to bring in; the Devices page also has a Sync with Home Assistant button for pulling in anything new later.
The other path is our own small sensor nodes — temperature, humidity, light, and motion — which speak a standard, broker-agnostic protocol. Plug one in and it announces itself both to the box directly and to Home Assistant, so it shows up in both places without any manual pairing step.
Either way, sensor readings land in your home’s own record immediately — a Home Assistant restart or outage doesn’t erase or pause the history your box has already collected.
