Is there a free tier?

Not a free Charyl Cloud tier, no — but self-hosting is free, real, and available today, and it's not a crippled version of the product.

Not a free tier of Charyl Cloud, no — every Charyl Cloud tier is a paid subscription once pricing is announced. But there’s a real free path, and it isn’t a stripped-down demo of the product.

Self-hosting Charyl on your own Linux server, with Docker, is free — during the current testing period you ask us for access to the private images, and at release they become public. You get the full platform — inventory, devices, sensors, rules, manuals, Home Records — and chat can run on your own hardware if it’s capable of it, or with your own AI-provider key. What you don’t get without Charyl Cloud is research, remote camera live view, automatic encrypted cloud backups, push notifications, and automatic updates — without a subscription, you update a self-hosted box by hand.

The free path is the self-host path

If cost matters more than convenience, self-hosting is where to start — see the self-host guide for what it takes.
