Can I self-host Charyl?
Yes — Docker Engine on a Linux server you already own runs the same stack the appliance does, free. During the testing period the images are private, so ask us for access first.
Yes. Self-hosting is real, and free. On a Linux server you keep on — a home server, a mini-PC, or a VM — Docker Engine and Compose pull the same published images the appliance runs, then bring up Charyl, the knowledge graph, the web app, and the database.
You’ll need Docker Engine on Linux specifically, not Docker Desktop, plus a little RAM and disk headroom. A local model runtime handles embeddings and, if your hardware is capable, chat itself — conversations can stay on your own machine rather than routing anywhere else.
One honest caveat for right now: during the testing period the published images are private, so you’ll need a read token from us to pull them — request early access and say you’d like to self-host. At release the images go public and it becomes a plain docker compose up.
