What is "the box"?

A small, pre-imaged computer that runs Charyl's full stack at home — early access, no model name or price published yet.

A small, pre-imaged computer that runs Charyl’s full stack at home. It arrives already set up: the database, Home Assistant, and Charyl herself, ready to plug in.

The box runs the exact same software described in self-hosting — it’s that stack, installed on hardware we chose and configured for you. We haven’t published a model name or a price; both are still being finalized.

The launch box keeps its cost down by leaving out a discrete graphics card, so chat conversations route through Charyl Cloud rather than running on the box itself. Records you mark private are excluded from retrieval — their contents never reach a cloud AI provider. early access A more capable box, for households that want conversations to stay on the box itself, is planned for later.

The box also runs a bundled copy of Home Assistant, discovered and adopted automatically during setup if you don’t already run one. early access
